In addition to explaining the model predictions for the whole training population, there is a need to explain model predictions for an arbitrary subset of the population chosen by the user. Non-linear models such as GLM (Generalized Linear Models) and Random Forest provide better accuracy but are hard to explain due to their non-linear nature. Explaining linear models is easy but they often don't provide enough accuracy. As machine learning becomes mainstream, users increasingly demand clarity on why a model makes certain predictions. It is unfortunately a common tactic that companies are using now to gather competitive intel and free consulting.Black box models are no longer good enough. I don’t think I’ve been on this many rounds and treated quite this way with any other company. 10 interviews with good feedback and no final response is very upsetting, I hope this feedback will be taken into consideration with other candidates and they can improve their hiring process. Every two weeks I would check on the status and was told that the hiring manager was still interviewing candidates and would update me with aĭecision when completed. The recruiter was leaving the organization but was nice enough to give me an update on where they were with the status.ĥ months later, a different recruiter contacted me about the Solutions Director position and thought I would be a good fit. I interviewed last year for a different position and went through about 5 interviews and was told sometime later that the position was put on hold but that the team gave great feedback and thought I would be a good addition to the team.
